Gentle World Educational Center

Gentle World's Hawaiian center is located in North Kohala,
on the northern-western tip of the Big Island of Hawai’i.
We are situated 1,500 ft above sea level
where the trade winds blow to make the air clean and sweet.

Gentle World’s volunteers distribute information to heighten
awareness about veganism, health and nutrition.
We do this through free seminars, cooking classes and individual consultations. At these seminars we share what we have learned from living together for many years.  We also donate free meals
to people in need such as abused women, those with AIDS
and anyone interested in transitioning to a plant-based diet.

Our publications are written and published here
and distributed on the mainland.

the vegan paradigm

Vegan-organic gardening is a healthy, compassionate alternative to organic as well as commercial gardening. Soil is enriched with vegetable compost, green manures, crop rotation, mulching and other ecological methods, ensuring long-term fertility without animal exploitation. Veganic gardening uses no blood and bone meal, sludge, fish parts/oil or manures from facilities where animals are abused.

Vegan soil conditioners/fertilizers are lime, gypsum, rock phosphorus, dolomite, rock dusts, rock potash, wood ash, hay mulches, composted organic matter (fruit/vegetable peels, leaves and grass clippings), green manures/nitrogen-fixing cover crops, seaweed and other liquid feeds.
